| Paul
Harris Fellow recognition was created in memory of Paul Harris,
the founder of Rotary as a way to show appreciation for
contributions to the Foundation's charitable and educational
program. |
| A Paul
Harris Fellow is an individual who contributes $1,000 or in
whose name that amount is contributed. Every Paul Harris Fellow
receives a pin, medallion and a certificate when he or she
becomes a Fellow. This identifies the Paul Harris Fellow as an
advocate of the Foundation's goals of world peace and
international understanding. |
| It has
been a practice of many clubs to award Paul Harris Fellowship to
select members in appreciation of his or her service to the
club.
|
| A
sustaining member is an individual who contributes or in whose
name is contributed a minimum of $100 with the commitment to
contribute $1,000 within a ten-year period. |
| What
types of contributions are eligible for Paul Harris Fellow or
Multiple Paul Harris Fellow recognition? |
| A: All
contributions to the Annual Programs Fund and/or restricted
gifts are eligible |
| Can a
business or organization be a Paul Harris Fellow?
|
| A: No.
Occasionally, a donor contributes US$1,000 and wishes to
recognize a business or organization. In these instances, since
Paul Harris Fellow recognition can only be presented to
individuals, a Certificate of Appreciation is given instead.
|
| Can I name someone
else a Paul Harris Fellow?
|
| A: Yes. |
| 1- You may make a
contribution of US$1,000 and ask that the recognition be awarded to
another person. |
| 2- You may
contribute Recognition Points to another person. Recognition Points are
accumulated when a Paul Harris Fellow has made a personal contribution
in addition to his or her initial gift of US$1,000. At the same time
that the donor's recognition level increases through this new gift, he
or she also accrues Recognition Points, which can be transferred to
other donors' accounts. If 1,000 Recognition Points are transferred to
one person, that individual becomes a Paul Harris Fellow. The
Recognition Points can also be split between multiple accounts.
For example, if 1,000 Recognition Points were divided equally
between two people who had not previously contributed to the
Foundation, each of those individuals would need to contribute
only an additional US$500 to become Paul Harris Fellows. |
| 3- You
may participate in the Paul Harris Partnership Program. Newly
developed, the Paul Harris partnership program will allow a
current Paul Harris Fellow to sponsor a non-fellow. Each club
will have a certain amount of money for this program. For
example: A current Paul Harris fellow will choose a non-fellow.
The non-fellow will put in $250. The current fellow will put in
another $250. The club will then "match" that money with $500.
The $1000 is then sent to Rotary International in the current
fellows name. They are then able to name who they want to give
the fellowship to. This will enable more people to be able to
participate in the program, who may not otherwise be able to
afford it. |
| Can
Recognition Points also be used to name Multiple Paul Harris
Fellows? |
| A: Yes. A
donor who is already a Paul Harris Fellow becomes a Multiple
Paul Harris Fellow if 1,000 Recognition Points are transferred
to his or her account. |
| When
do Recognition Points expire? |
| A:
Foundation Recognition Points no longer expire. |
