New Members Will and Kristen Jones were introduced to the Rotary Club last Wednesday by President Anja, they were sponsored into the club by Lori Garrison. Kristen Jones is originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia. She is a graduate of Dartmouth College and George Mason University Law School. As an Air Force spouse, she has lived and practiced law in four states and is now proud to call Wyoming her "forever home." Will and Kristen were stationed at FE Warren from 2012-2015. During that time, Kristen worked for the Attorney General's Office representing Wyoming Medicaid. Kristen returned to Wyoming in 2020 and re-joined the Criminal Division of the Attorney General's Office. Kristen also sits on the board of the Military Spouse JD Network, a bar association which supports the careers of military spouse legal professionals. Military Spouse employment is a topic near to her heart, and the issue is becoming an increasingly urgent matter of retention and readiness. She is also passionate about conservation and sustainability and excited to work with Rotary on these issues. Major Will Jones is an active duty Air Force JAG attorney, and is excited to retire on June 1st after 24 years of service. Will enlisted in the Air Force in 1998 as a musician. He served as the principal euphonium player for the Air Force Band in Washington, D.C. for 14 years. Will used his GI Bill benefits to attend law school at night --- where he met Kristen. In 2012, he commissioned in the JAF Corps and moved to FE Warren for his very first assignment as a JAG. Will later received an LLM degree in government acquisitions and he is now (technically) stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. For the last four years he has been advising the Air Force Research Lab and the contracting team that purchases and upgrades to C130s for the Air Force. This month, he began serving as the law clerk for Judge Nancy Freudenthal at the federal district court. He is thrilled to begin building his knowledge of Wyoming law and connecting with other Wyoming lawyers. Will and Kristen have two young boys who love biking along the Cheyenne Greenway and hate being forced to hike in Medicine Bow. The Jones' decided to settle in Cheyenne because they have always found this community to be so welcoming ---on a personal and professional level. As an Air Force family, it is important for them to connect with an organization like Rotary full of motivated professionals who encourage and support each other and strive to give back to the community. Through Rotary, the Jones' hope to build friendships and contribute to Cheyenne. |
