RYLA - Call for Counselors and Students
Past President Lucie Osborn has been a RYLA Senior Counselor for several years and gave us an update on RYLA.

RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) is a life-changing leadership training program where young people learn, develop, and enhance leadership skills and principles in an atmosphere of trust and respect. RYLA encourages and assists current and potential youth leaders in methods of responsible and effective leadership. Many past RYLArians claim, “It was the best week of my life!”

RYLA is back after a 2 year pause because of COVID with an exceptional opportunity for volunteers.  Promote RYLA with young people. Students in their sophomore, junior and senior year of high school are eligible to apply.  Seniors are eligible due to break from COVID.

Important - everyone must be vaccinated.
Dates – For Senior Counselors July 16 to July 22  (Training will be the last Saturday in June or first one in July)
For Students July 17 to July 22

RYLA still needs some Senior Counselors (SC).  SCs are Rotarians who are paired with a Junior Counselor (JC) who is someone that has attended RYLA as a high school student.  The JCs run the groups and the SCs are there for support and safety.  A week as an SC is an amazing experience.  Not only do you get to know Rotarians from District 5440 and 5450 but also get to watch the attendees develop and grow within a short period of time.  RYLA has exceptional and inspirational speakers as well as activities for the team to conquer – or not.  If you are interested in applying scroll down to the For Rotarians Only area on the website and submit an application.  If you have questions please contact Lucie at 307.421.6949 or lucie.osborn66@gmail.com.  You will not be disappointed.

If you know of a student who would benefit from attending RYLA please encourage them to apply.  Applications are open and available on the website.

Thank you for considering RYLA.

"Two Sisters" Bronze Statues - Update
After reaching out to club members and hearing feedback, the Cheyenne Rotary Board of Directors and the Cheyenne Rotary Foundation Trustees have decided not to pursue the potential bronze statues project.  We thank you all for your thoughtful input during the process.

However, we are still working on identifying an impactful community project, and President Elect Nominee Lori Garrison, Tom Brantley, and Janet Lewis will serve on the committee to identify and research potential projects for us to consider.  Stay tuned for more information as the process unfolds.
