Business Sponsor Presentation

Spencer Kimball, Government Relations Specialist, for EOG Resources based in Denver presented a talk on his company and it's impact on our area.
EOG is the number one producer of oil and the sixth producer of natural gas in Wyoming.  Most of their impact in Laramie County is in the DG Basin east of Cheyenne.
They employ several hundred people in Wyoming and annually impact the state with several millions of dollars of revenue in taxes and wages.  Sustainability is very important to EOG and they have goals of reducing their fresh water use and minimizing the methane release from newly produced wells.  EOG recently set a goal to achieve zero routine flaring by 2025 and set ambition to reach net zero scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions by 2040.
EOG is proud to be a Rotary sponsor.
New Member Introduced.
Scott Van Horn introduced new member Sarah Compton at last week's meeting. The following was his introduction:
Sarah has lived in Cheyenne for 18 years and is currently the Executive Director of the Wyoming Congressional Award Council. Prior to the Wyoming Congressional Award she worked at STRIDE Learning Center with a diverse workload that included fundraising and compliance. She has four children, 2 grown and 2 teens still at home. She enjoys live music, participating in local theatre productions and serves on various non-profit boards.  Her weekends are spent with friends or taxiing her son to soccer. Sarah believes with all her heart that people and communities can be changed by simple actions.  Her favorite saying is by Mahatma Gandhi , "Be the change you wish to see in the world."  Sarah is very excited to be a part of Rotary and looks forward to learning and growing with this group to see how she can put that saying into action.

Braver Angels Presentation on Voting Methods

Are you curious about how “ranked choice voting” works? Did you know that earlier this year Wyoming’s legislature considered adopting it for primary elections? Or that it is currently considering replacing our “first past the post” method with a runoff method? Would you like to learn about various other popular voting methods, such as score voting, STAR voting, the Borda count method, or approval voting? Then join Braver Angels, the League of Women Voters, and the Wyoming Tribune Eagle on Sunday, October 24, at 2:00 pm for an educational presentation by Matthew Link of the University of Wyoming and Kal Munis of Utah Valley University in Montana, on voting methods and democracy. On November 16, argue for your favorite method at a Braver Angels style debate. Both events are on Zoom.
